Auction Result: Photography (online), December 9, 2021 @Van Ham

Van Ham experimented with an online-only Photography sale last week, with mixed results. The generally low priced offerings suffered from an overall Buy-In rate that was too high (over 55%), and with just two positive surprises to balance the passes, the Total Sale Proceeds (of just over €100K) came in below the low end of the aggregate pre-sale estimate range.

The top photography lot by High estimate was tied between two lots: lot 121, Rosemarie Trockel, Untitled (Dackel), 1993, and lot 124, Rosemarie Trockel, Untitled (Dackel), 1993, both estimated at €7000-9000; the first Trockel dog portrait was the top outcome of the sale at €14875 (image above via Van Ham), while the second sold at €10413.

95.83% of the lots that sold had proceeds in or above the estimate. There were a total of 2 positive surprises in the sale (defined as having proceeds of at least double the high estimate) (images above, via Van Ham):

Lot 95, Günther Förg, Architektur II (5 prints), 1993, estimated at €800-1000, sold at €2376
