Auction Results: Photographs Signature Auction, October 1 and 2, 2026 @Heritage

Heritage doubled down on its high volume style at its Photographs Signature Auction last week. With more than 600 lots on offer (the vast majority available under $10000), the scale of the sale forced it to cross over into two days. While the overall Buy-In rate was a bit too high (over 28%), the real softness came in the pattern of too many lots selling below their estimate ranges – more than two thirds of the lots that found buyers did so below their estimates, so it was a buyer’s market to be sure. A handful of positive surprises helped the numbers a bit, but the Total Sale Proceeds (of roughly $1.23M) still fell well below the low end of the aggregate pre-sale estimate range.

Only 32.48% of the lots that sold had proceeds in or above the estimate range and there were a total of 8 positive surprises in the sale (defined as having proceeds of at least double the high estimate) (images above, via Heritage):
