Auction Results: Photographs, November 18, 2014 @Phillips London

Led by solid sell through of the high priced lots, Phillips’ various owner photographs auction in London just after Paris Photo generally performed to expectations. In fact, there were only two positive surprises in the entire sale, so nearly every other lot that found a buyer didn’t wander too far from its estimate boundaries. Overall, the Buy-In rate worryingly inched up toward 40%, but the Total Sale Proceeds still covered the low end of the estimate range with some room to spare.

94.74% of the lots that sold had proceeds in or above the estimate range and there were a total of only 2 surprises in the sale (defined as having proceeds of at least double the high estimate):
