Auction Results: Modern, Post-War & Contemporary, Evening and Day Sales, November 27 and 28, 2024 @Van Ham

It was a soft outing for the photography included in the various modern and contemporary art sales at Van Ham in Cologne last week. The top photo lot Peter Beard portfolio failed to sell, and with an overall Buy-In rate for photography at 50% and no positive surprises to add some momentum, the Total Sale Proceeds for photography (of roughly €225K) fell well below the low end of the aggregate pre-sale estimate range.

The top photography lot by High estimate was lot 6, Peter Beard, Camera Work Portfolio (10 prints), 1960-1987/1998, estimated at €70000-100000; it did not sell. The top photography outcome of the sales was lot 663, Hans Peter Feldmann, Alle Kleider einer Frau (70-part series), 1975, estimated at €25000-35000, sold at €33000 (image above, via Van Ham).

100.00% of the lots that sold had proceeds in or above the estimate, and there were no positive surprises in the sales (defined as having proceeds of at least double the high estimate).
