Auction Results: Post-War to Present, September 27, 2019 @Christie’s

The photography results at Christie’s recent Post-War to Present sale in New York were generally uneventful. The top lot John Baldessari print did find a buyer, but with just one positive surprise otherwise, the Total Sale Proceeds for photography fell near the low end of the aggregate pre-sale estimate range.

The top photography lot by High estimate was lot 344, John Baldessari, Horizontal Series: Perplexed, 2003, estimated at $60000-80000; it was also the top photography outcome of the sale at $102500 (image above, via Christie’s).

90.914% of the lots that sold had proceeds in or above the estimate range and there was just one positive surprise in the sale (defined as having proceeds of at least double the high estimate):
