Auction Results: Photographs Now, The Collector’s Edition, July 17, 2025 @Bonhams (online)

The results of the early summer Photographs Now online sale at Bonhams last week were largely uneventful. The top lot Irving Penn print found a buyer within its estimate range, only to be bested by a large scale Polaroid print by Natalie White. With an overall Buy-In rate above 27% (with one withdrawal) and just a handful of positive surprises, the Total Sale Proceeds (of roughly $675K) fell just above the low end of the aggregate pre-sale estimate range.

The top lot by High estimate was lot 51, Irving Penn, Cuzco Children, Peru, Dec. 1948, 1948/before 1975, estimated at $25000-35000; it sold at $33280 but was not the top outcome of the sale. That honor went to lot 98, Natalie White, Entangled Particles in One Region of Space, 2015, estimated at $4000-6000, sold at $46080 (image above, via Bonhams.)

68.06% of the lots that sold had proceeds in or above the estimate range and there were 6 positive surprises in the sale (defined as having proceeds of at least double the high estimate) (images above, via Bonhams):
