Auction Results: Photographs Now, July 18, 2024 @Bonhams (online)

Aside from a vintage Aenne Biermann double exposure print from the early 1930s that soared to more than 8X its high estimate, the results from the recent Photographs Now online sale at Bonhams in New York last week were lackluster. The material on offer was largely in the lowest price tier, and an overall Buy-In rate near 40% dampened to tally. Even with a number of positive surprises, the Total Sale Proceeds (of roughly $400K) fell well below the low end of the aggregate pre-sale estimate range.

59.54% of the lots that sold had proceeds in or above the estimate range and there were a total of 10 positive surprises in the sale (defined as having proceeds of at least double the high estimate) (image above, via Bonhams):
