Auction Results: Photo Auction, November 21, 2025 @OstLicht

While all of the mid and high priced lots found buyers in the Photo Auction at OstLicht in Vienna last week, the combination of an overall Buy-In rate over 30%, only 42% of lots that sold selling in or above their estimate ranges, and no positive surprises still muted the tally. A vintage Julia Margaret Cameron portrait took the top lot honors, with the Total Sale Proceeds of roughly €525K coming in below the low end of the aggregate pre-sale estimate range.

The top lot by High estimate was lot 3, Julia Margaret Cameron, Julia Jackson, 1867, estimated at €80000-100000; it was also the top outcome of the sale at €96000 (image above, via OstLicht).

Just 42.76% of the lots that sold had proceeds in or above the estimate range and there were no positive surprises in the sale (defined as having proceeds of at least double the high estimate).
