Auction Results: Now and Contemporary Evening and Contemporary Day Auctions, May 15 and 16, 2025 @Sotheby’s

The results for the photography included in the contemporary sales at Sotheby’s in New York last week were generally solid. The top lot Richard Prince cowboy print found a buyer about its estimate range (at nearly $1.4M), and a Louise Lawler image of the installation of Edgar Degas’ dancer sculpture soared to more than 4X its high estimate. When the tally was done, the Total Sale Proceeds for photography (of roughly $3.1M) came in near the top end of the aggregate pre-sale estimate range.
