A selection of lesser known Helmut Newton prints generally met expectations at the recent online sale at Phillips in London. All of the lots found buyers, but more than 40% of the lots sold below their estimate ranges. With just a couple of positive surprises to pump up the numbers a bit, the Total Sale Proceeds (of roughly £230K) tallied up near the middle of the aggregate pre-sale estimate range.

The top lot by High estimate was tied between two lots, both estimated at £15000-25000: lot 7, Helmut Newton, Evi IV, Beverly Hills, 1996, and lot 9, Helmut Newton, Anonymous, Monte Carlo, 2000; lot 7 sold at £6096 and lot 9 was the top outcome of the sale at £35560 (image above, via Phillips).

Just 55.88% of the lots that sold had proceeds in or above the estimate range and there were a total of 2 positive surprises in the sale (defined as having proceeds of at least double the high estimate) (images above via Phillips):
