Auction Results: Color Vision: Masterworks by William Eggleston from Guy Stricherz and Irene Malli, March 18, 2025 @Phillips

As expected, the William Eggleston dye transfer printers’ proofs from the collection of Guy Stricherz and Irene Malli performed admirably earlier this week at Phillips. It was a white glove sale (with all of the lots finding buyers), with several new records set for Eggleston outcomes (highest single lot, highest dye transfer print, and highest outcomes for specific individual images). With 15 positive surprises to further drive the numbers upward, the Total Sale Proceeds (of roughly $5.67M) came in near the top end of the aggregate pre-sale estimate range.

The summary statistics are below (all results include the buyer’s premium):

    Press prints?

  2. Loring Knoblauch /

Press or printer’s proofs (made by the printer for final color matching/approval) not press prints (in the parlance of images made for newspaper circulation/reproduction). Sorry for any confusion.
