Auction Results: 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale, Impressionist and Modern Art Works on Paper, Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale, and Post-War and Contemporary Art Online Sale, October 9, 10, and 15, 2024 @Christie’s London

A Richard Prince cowboy print soared to over £2M at the recent contemporary art evening sale at Christie’s in London, notching the top price for a photograph sold at auction so far this year. The other related sales over the next few days also proved to be photographically strong, led by a Dadaist photomontage by Hannah Höch that jumped to over £275K. Overall, the Buy-In rate for photography across the various auctions was an enviable 3%, and with a few positive surprises to boost the numbers further, the Total Sales Proceeds for photography (of roughly £3.0M) came in above the top end of the aggregate pre-sale estimate range.
