Auction Preview: 14th Photo Auction, June 10, 2016 @WestLicht

While a complete set of Bert Stern’s famous Last Sitting with Marilyn Monroe leads WestLicht’s upcoming photography auction in Vienna, it’s the few photobooks that are mixed in with the photographs that are worth searching out. Rare books from Bellmer, Drtikol, Krull, Renger-Patzsch and others dot the sale, seamlessly woven together with prints (the way they should be – as opposed to the normal practice of setting them apart in a separate section). Otherwise, it’s a sale mostly filled with 20th century black and white work. Overall, there are a total of 211 lots on offer in this auction, with a Total High Estimate of €1008200.
